Assists the physician in the performance of invasive cardiac procedures, has thorough knowledge of all Cath Lab Equipment and maintenance of same and administers direct/indirect nursing care to patients undergoing invasive cardiac procedures. Able to provide direct and indirect cardiovascular clinical care during established procedures and sedation for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Current license/certification in the profession in the State of Georgia. Qualifying credentials may be any of the following: Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Radiologic Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist (RT-CI), Radiologic Cardiovascular Technologist (RT-CV), Radiologic Technologist (RT-R), Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and/or National Registered Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P). BCLS and ACLS certified within one year of employment. Two years of Cath Lab experience, with advanced clinical practice skills. Knowledge of current trends and techniques in the cardiovascular field, participation in continuing education programs. Knowledge of electrocardiography, coronary heart disease, cardiac anatomy and physiology preferred with EKG interpretation mandatory. Requires tact, discretion, diplomacy and ability to work effectively with others. Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate appropriately, able to work under stressful conditions and frequent interruptions. Possesses sound judgment, is highly motivated, and reacts well in emergencies.
