RESPONSIBLE FOR: Direct and/or indirect total, holistic nursing care of adolescent and adult patients utilizing fetal and maternal monitoring and assessment during the antenatal and intrapartum periods. Is a patient advocate and develops a plan of care with collaboration from other disciplines and with consideration of the family's desires during the labor and delivery process. Responsible for circulating in the OR during C-section deliveries, tubal ligations, and D&C. Delivers comprehensive care to mother/baby couplets. Assess the new mother baby and family unit from the completion of the labor and delivery recovery period until the time of discharge from the unit. Utilizes critical thinking skills in emergency situations and implements the appropriate interventions. Assists in the initial assessment and delivery of emergency care to the neonate. Delivers age appropriate education to adolescent and adult patients and their family members. Also responsible for the direction and guidance of personnel assigned to him/her, including clinical partners, support partners and clerical partners. Cross-trained to care for Mother/Baby couplets. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from a school of nursing with current licensure in the state of Georgia ACLS certification required if working in a critical care area. |
